Six LEGO Christmas sets for 2026 go on sale on 1 October, covering everything from a sub-£11 ornament pack to a licensed build based on Will Ferrell's 2003 film Elf. Two of the six - Holiday Ornament Selection 2 (40862) and Santa's Holiday Sleigh Adventure (40866) - were revealed this morning, completing the wave.
40862 Holiday Ornament Selection 2 (179 pieces, £10.99 / $12.99 / €12.99, ages 6+) is the easiest recommendation of the six. Four buildable tree ornaments - Cataclaws, Mrs. Claus, a candy cane with green background and swirly elements, and a Christmas tree with glow-in-the-dark elements - each come with a hanger so they go straight onto the family tree rather than a shelf. At around 6p per piece it is low-risk, sensible as a stocking filler, and built to work year after year.
40866 Santa's Holiday Sleigh Adventure (187 pieces, £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99, ages 9+) includes Santa, Mrs. Claus, two adult reindeer, and a baby reindeer, with a carrot-feeding moment built into the scene. The sleigh works as a standalone display or as part of a holiday village layout. Community reaction is measured: the baby reindeer and extra colour on the sleigh are appealing, but the broader consensus places it a step below its predecessor, 40499 Santa's Sleigh, in overall quality. At roughly 13p per piece it sits at the pricier end for a small seasonal set. Worth noting for collectors: the Mrs. Claus minifigure appears here rather than in the up-scaled figure that bears her name.
40865 Buddy the Elf (713 pieces, £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99, ages 12+) is the headline set and the genuine surprise of the wave. Licensed properties almost never appear in LEGO's seasonal range, making a build based on the 2003 Christmas comedy a notable departure. Buddy stands on a North Pole base decorated with an Arctic puffin, candy canes, and a maple syrup bottle; a new feather element on his cap confirms the design team watched the film. At around 4.9p per piece it is the strongest value of the three larger sets.
Opinion on the face is divided. The lower half uses printed tiles where brick-built detail might have served the model better, and the join between the upper and lower sections sits awkwardly. Comparisons with the Wallace and Gromit brick-built likenesses have been made, not favourably. There is also no Buddy minifigure, which feels like a missed opportunity - a small figure alongside the larger build would have cost little in parts but would have meant a great deal to fans. Families who rewatch the film each December will likely find it worth the price; collectors with higher expectations may not.
40875 Up-Scaled Mrs. Claus Minifigure (904 pieces, £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99) is the companion to last year's 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure, sharing the same posable head, arms, and hands. If 40820 is already on the shelf, she is the natural next step; the pair make a far more compelling display together than either does alone.
40874 Santa's Holiday Countdown (873 pieces, £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, ages 10+) is the most functional set of the six: a perpetual calendar built into a chimney, with knobs to advance the date as Christmas approaches. Santa stands on a snowy roof alongside a sack of gifts. It costs the same as Mrs. Claus but runs 31 pieces lighter. LEGO pitches it as a family build to bring out each December, which is a reasonable idea, though how well novelty-driven concepts hold their appeal after the first season is always an open question.
40958 Christmas Stocking (342 pieces, £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99) rounds out the wave.
All six sets go on sale on 1 October 2026. The one remaining gap in the seasonal calendar is this year's Winter Village set, which has yet to be revealed. With September now under way, that announcement should not be long coming.
