LEGO Batman Returns Batmobile (76355): Everything You Need to Know

LEGO officially revealed the Batman Returns Batmobile (76355) on 18 August 2026, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. LEGO Insiders get early access from 1 September 2026, with general release following on 4 September, exclusively through LEGO.com/Batmobile and LEGO Stores.

Batman Returns Batmobile

Containing 2,269 pieces and rated 18+, pricing is set at Ā£189.99 / $229.99 / €209.99 (AU$349.99, CAD$319.99, SGD$299.90).

No LEGO version of the Batman Returns Batmobile has existed until now. It joins 76139 1989 Batmobile and 76161 1989 Batwing to complete the Tim Burton trilogy of display builds - and of the two Burton-era cars, the Returns version has always been the harder design proposition. It is longer, lower and more organically gothic than its predecessor, with a distinctive turbine fin and a sinister sharpness to its lines that made faithful brick-form recreation particularly tricky. The film itself turns 34 this year.

Batmissile transformation detail

Press a button and a lift-arm mechanism releases the side panels to reveal the slimmer escape vehicle hidden within - the Batmissile. It recreates the sequence from the 1992 film in which the Batmobile splits open while being pursued by Gotham's police. The model can be displayed as either the Batmobile or the Batmissile. Making that function work without compromising the silhouette is a real design challenge, and from early images LEGO appears to have resolved it cleanly.

Six hidden Easter eggs are built into the model, including The Penguin's tracking device - a small but satisfying nod for fans of the film. From its elongated bodywork and jet turbine rear engine to the opening canopy and detailed cockpit, the design team have worked to keep the build faithful to the on-screen vehicle.

Build detail

Three new LEGO elements were developed specifically for this set. The most notable is a new Batman cowl that drapes across the entire minifigure, breaking the traditional minifigure silhouette in an unusual and technically interesting way. A newly moulded cape was also created for this build. Batman is the sole minifigure included, displayed on a dedicated stand with the Batman Returns logo.

Minifigure detail

For a set built around a film defined by Danny DeVito's Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman, leaving both out is a baffling omission. 76252 Batcave Shadow Box is the last set to have come near either character in minifigure form, and it is difficult to imagine LEGO revisiting the 1992 film again soon.

On value, the set runs to roughly 1,000 fewer pieces than the 76139 1989 Batmobile at a comparable price point. At approximately 8.4p per piece the numbers are not exceptional on their own, but the transformation mechanism gives 76355 a genuine interactive identity rather than simply adding another static model to the shelf. For Burton fans who already have the 1989 Batmobile and Batwing on display, the gap this fills is obvious.
