Today's the day: Lego Death Slice hits the Lego store for Insiders

The monstrously large 4016 piece Lego Death Star 2025 (75419) launches today online and in Lego stores, possibly your only chance to pick up the gift with purchase with the set even if you think it's a bit of a rip off today is decision day.

Gift with purchases bundled with expensive sets can go for a lot of money in the aftermarket. If you want to get one on eBay or at a Lego convention my guess is that they will be £100-£150, when the Dungeons and Dragons (21348) set (£314) came out it's GWP was on eBay for £65, this set is 3x as expensive.

Of course, £900 is serious money, and you'll need serious shelf space too. This isn't one for the kids' bedroom; it's a display piece that demands respect. The good news is LEGO's thrown in a TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack (40771) as a gift with purchase, which helps justify that eye-watering price a bit.

The timing's spot on for Christmas planning, especially with the Holiday Express Train (10361) also launching. This year's Winter Village offering looks properly charming and, at a much more reasonable price point, it's perfect for families wanting to start or expand their festive LEGO tradition.

Honestly, the Death Star is incredible, but it's firmly in 'special occasion' territory. Most of us will be admiring it from afar, but we might be missing an opportunity.
