LEGO's Luigi Gets the Mach 8 Treatment in New 2,234-Piece Set
LEGO dropped another Mario Kart set today for MAR10 Day - Luigi & Mach 8 (72050) joins Mario's Standard Kart as the second large-scale kart build. This one's considerably bigger though, packing 2,234 pieces compared to Mario's more modest offering. The set launches April 1st at £179.99, which works out to about 8p per piece - decent value for a licensed theme.

The build recreates Luigi's sleek racing machine from the games, complete with poseable Luigi figure and apparently enough detail work to nail that famous Death Stare expression with some tweaking. Honestly, this feels like LEGO testing the waters for how far they can push the Mario Kart line. The piece count puts it firmly in display territory rather than play set, though knowing LEGO's Mario builds, there'll be plenty of interactive elements to keep younger builders engaged.

At over 2,000 pieces, you're looking at a proper weekend project rather than an afternoon build. The Mach 8's angular design should translate well to brick form - much better than trying to capture some of the more organic kart designs from the series. Pre-orders are live now if you fancy securing one before the April release.
