LEGO One Piece Gets Netflix Treatment This September

Netflix is making an animated LEGO version of the first two seasons of their One Piece live-action series, landing on 29th September in two parts. It's basically a fancy advert for the LEGO One Piece sets launching in August, but honestly, that's fine by me.

The timing works perfectly with LEGO's One Piece rollout. We already know about 75647 Gum-Gum Fruit at £69.99 for 482 pieces - that's about 14.5p per piece, which sits comfortably in LEGO's current pricing. There are apparently half a dozen other sets coming alongside it, though LEGO's keeping those details close to their chest for now.

This follows the same playbook Disney+ uses for Star Wars and Marvel - create animated content that showcases the sets while telling a proper story. It worked brilliantly for those themes, so no reason it won't work here. One Piece has a massive following, and the live-action Netflix series brought in plenty of new fans who might not have touched the anime. For parents wondering if this is worth your time, the original One Piece can be pretty intense for younger kids.

A LEGO version might be the perfect way to introduce them to the world without the more serious elements. Plus, if your kids get hooked, you've got a legitimate excuse to buy those sets "for them". You can set reminders on Netflix already if you're planning to watch. Whether you're in it for the sets or genuinely curious about a LEGO take on One Piece, September can't come soon enough.
