LEGO Ideas Development Pipeline Growing Fast with New Winners
The LEGO Ideas development queue is getting crowded. With fresh winners announced from the Second 2025 Review Stage, plus building contest champions, there's quite a backlog forming of sets we'll eventually see on shelves.

Three projects stand out from the current list. Sea Serpent by HallowedBrick02 won the 'A Twist of Nostalgia' building contest back in May 2025 - it's a proper fantasy build that should appeal to castle fans missing that theme. LEGO Godzilla by MattE720 made it through the Third 2024 Review Stage in June, which makes sense given how well licensed monster properties have performed recently.

Most worth a look is The X-Files: The Truth Is Out There by WetWired, winner of the '90s Throwback contest. Actually, x-Files feels like perfect Ideas territory - nostalgic enough for adults, obscure enough that it needs the fan vote system to prove demand exists.

The growing pipeline suggests LEGO Ideas is working exactly as intended, but it also means longer waits between approval and release. Projects approved in 2025 might not hit shops until 2027 or later. That's frustrating if you voted for something, but probably necessary given how much development and licensing work goes into each set.

The real question is whether LEGO can maintain quality whilst processing this many Ideas projects alongside their main product lines. Recent Ideas sets have been solid, but rushing development never ends well.
