Prosperity Carp Leaping

A working handle mechanism brings the ancient Chinese idiom "The carp leaps over the dragon gate" to life, allowing two brick-built carp to physically leap over their obstacle when turned. This 736-piece set creates both a meaningful cultural display and an interactive mechanical toy that demonstrates the perseverance and transformation symbolised in Chinese tradition.

The model includes a sign featuring the idiom written in simplified Chinese characters, adding educational value alongside the hands-on building experience. The carp figures are designed to move through their leaping motion via the integrated handle system, making this more than just a static display piece.

Cultural and Display Features

Beyond its mechanical function, the set serves as a Spring Festival decoration or year-round display piece. The design captures the traditional story of carp transforming into dragons after successfully leaping over the dragon gate, representing achievement through hard work and determination.

The completed model measures 20 cm high, 20 cm wide and 18 cm deep, making it a substantial centrepiece suitable for ages 9 and up. This set forms part of the broader LEGO Chinese Festivals collection, designed to introduce cultural learning through building.
