River Steamboat

A classic river steamboat reimagined as an entertainment tour boat and steam engine museum forms the centrepiece of this detailed display model. The 4,090-piece construction captures the vessel's historic charm whilst incorporating modern touring facilities across multiple decks.

The model features four removable sections that reveal detailed interiors. The pilothouse sits at the top, whilst the texas deck below houses crew quarters and facilities. The main deck transforms the traditional cargo space into a modern entertainment venue with a music stage and restaurant area. The boiler deck contains both a working kitchen and an authentic steam engine museum display.

Interactive Features

Moving the completed model across a surface activates the paddle wheel through a connection to the brick-built steam engine mechanism. The ship's wheel in the pilothouse can be turned to operate the rudder, with an external control knob providing an alternative method of steering.

Steam Engine Museum

The museum section showcases the boat's mechanical heritage through detailed brick-built displays. A working piston system demonstrates steam engine principles, accompanied by an aeolipile steam turbine and a representation of James Watt's revolutionary steam engine design. These working mechanisms provide insight into the technology that powered river commerce for generations.

The finished model measures 40 cm high, 69 cm long and 15 cm wide, making it a substantial display piece built to minifigure scale. This LEGO Ideas set originated from a fan designer's concept and was selected through community voting.
