The Goonies Never Say Die - And Neither Does LEGO's Nostalgia Train
Well, this is a pleasant surprise! LEGO has just revealed 21363 The Goonies, and it's looking like a proper treat for anyone who grew up in the '80s or has kids discovering the film for the first time.

One side features One-Eyed Willie's pirate ship (complete with treasure, naturally), while the flip side recreates key scenes from the film through connected vignettes. It's essentially two displays in one, which is rather brilliant for maximising shelf impact without needing acres of space.
The real star here might be the minifigure collection - all 12 characters from the film are included. Seeing young Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and the rest of the gang in LEGO form is bound to bring back some memories. The attention to detail in capturing those iconic '80s looks should be spot on, if LEGO's recent character work is anything to go by.

This started as a fan design from Vaggelis Ntezes through LEGO Ideas, which always makes these sets feel special. There's something lovely about seeing a passionate fan's vision make it to official release, especially when it captures such a beloved film.

At 18+, this is clearly aimed at adult builders and collectors, though I suspect plenty of families will end up building it together. The film has that timeless adventure quality that still works with kids today, even if some of the references might fly over their heads.

Available from November 1st, this feels like it'll be popular with the nostalgic crowd. The combination of a classic adventure story, solid building experience, and impressive display potential makes it quite tempting. Just mind those booby traps while you're building - wouldn't want any pieces going missing in the couch cushions!
