The Goonies Gets a Proper Family Touch with Walsh Attic GWP

LEGO's just announced a rather lovely little addition to The Goonies (21363) set that's launching next month. If you pick up the main set between November 1st and 7th, you'll also get The Walshes' Attic (40773) as a gift with purchase - and it's actually quite a thoughtful companion piece.

This 179-piece set recreates the attic scene where young Mikey discovers One-Eyed Willy's treasure map, which is essentially where the whole adventure kicks off. What's particularly nice is that it includes minifigures of Irving and Irene Walsh - Mikey's parents - giving us the complete family for the first time. It's one of those details that shows LEGO really thought about the story rather than just cramming in the flashy action bits.

The catch, of course, is that week-long window. The main Goonies set is £90, so you'll need to commit to that if you want the attic. Given how popular 80s nostalgia sets have been, I wouldn't be surprised if this GWP disappears quite quickly - especially since it's "while supplies last."

For Goonies fans, this feels like the sort of bonus that actually enhances the main set rather than just being random extra bricks. Whether it's worth rushing to buy in that first week rather than waiting depends on how much you fancy having the complete Walsh family story on your shelf.
