LEGO's New Roller Coasters Look Suspiciously Familiar
LEGO has announced two new roller coaster sets for June 2026, and they're basically identical apart from the theming. 60501 Lava Land Roller Coaster Park (£99.99) brings volcanic thrills to City, while 42703 Mermaid Roller Coaster Ride (£99.99) adds underwater magic to Friends.

Both sets use the same core roller coaster mechanism and track layout that we've seen before in previous City releases. The only real differences are the decorative elements - lava rocks and flames versus mermaids and sea creatures. It's a straightforward case of taking one design and giving it two different paint jobs.

The £100 price point puts these firmly in premium territory, though roller coaster sets have always commanded higher prices due to their working mechanisms. Kids who missed the earlier versions will probably love either theme, and the working coaster element does provide genuine play value.

Both arrive in shops on 1st June 2026. If you're choosing between them, go with whichever theme your household prefers - the building experience will be virtually identical either way.
