LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear (42232) Revealed - The Largest Ultimate Car Set Ever
LEGO has revealed the Technic Koenigsegg Sadairs Spear Megacar (42232), a 1:8 scale reproduction of the Swedish hypercar maker's most track-focused road car. At 4,104 pieces with 19 new elements, it is the largest Ultimate Car set LEGO Technic has ever produced, surpassing the McLaren P1's 3,893 pieces. Priced at £399.99 / $449.99 / €449.99, it launches on 1 July 2026 for LEGO Insiders and 4 July for general availability, with pre-orders open now at LEGO.com.

Koenigsegg named the real Sadairs Spear after a racehorse ridden by Christian von Koenigsegg's father in its final race in 1976, when he competed as a gentleman jockey. "Naming the car after one of my father's favourite racehorses seemed the perfect way to celebrate our most track-focused car to date," Christian said. Only 30 units will be built, each priced at roughly $5 million, powered by a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 1,625hp on E85 fuel and capable of 360km/h.

A headline feature of the LEGO model is its functional 9-speed sequential transmission, a first for the Technic line. A rotating gear indicator displays the currently selected gear as you cycle through the ratios. Under the bodywork sits a working V8 piston engine that turns as the car rolls.

Ghost Mode is the standout engineering achievement here. A single linked mechanical system simultaneously rotates the dihedral synchro-helix doors, opens the front bonnet, raises the rear clam shell, and folds the mirrors. It replicates a party trick of the real car and required what Senior Model Designer Kasper Rene Hansen described as "the most advanced LEGO Technic build we have produced."

Triplex front and rear suspension rounds out the mechanical feature set, mirroring the real Sadairs Spear's race-derived setup. Functional steering completes the rolling chassis. On the aerodynamic side, the brick-built body recreates the active rear wing with its double-blade design, the underfloor strakes, and the wheel arch louvres that generate downforce on the full-size car.

Finished dimensions come in at 15cm high, 59cm long, and 28cm wide, making it a substantial display piece. Rated 18+, it is aimed squarely at adult builders. Buyers who purchase between 1 and 6 July will receive the 40894 Koenigsegg Sadairs Spear Steering Wheel as a gift with purchase, while stocks last.
