All 22 F1 Drivers Get Their Own LEGO Minicar at Silverstone This Sunday
Last year's LEGO Drivers Parade at the Miami Grand Prix was fun enough, but there was a catch - not every driver had their own car. This Sunday at Silverstone, that changes. All 22 current F1 drivers will take a lap of the circuit in their own fully driveable LEGO minicar before the British Grand Prix, each one built from 28,000 bricks and capable of reaching 25km/h. That's the headline upgrade for version 2.0 of this event.

Each minicar carries its driver's team livery, colourways, and race number, so the cars should be immediately recognisable to anyone who follows the sport. At 25km/h these aren't exactly rapid - even my daughter on her bike would give them a run for their money - but they're moving under real LEGO-built power on actual F1 tarmac, which is genuinely daft in the best way.

From a building standpoint, 28,000 pieces per car is a serious piece of work. Multiply that by 22 and you've got over 600,000 bricks rolling around Silverstone on Sunday. Someone had a very busy few months.

This is a spectacle for people at the circuit or watching pre-race coverage, not something you can buy. But it's the kind of thing that makes kids who are into both LEGO and F1 go completely wild, and it keeps the LEGO-Formula 1 partnership highly visible heading into what's already been a strong year for LEGO's F1 licensing.
