Building this 588-piece racing set centres around two distinct karts with unique mechanical features. The Tanooki Kart and Cat Cruiser each feature specialised tyres and shell-launching mechanisms, whilst an attachable Piranha Plant adds authentic movement effects when either kart is driven.

The set includes three figures: Toadette, a Koopa Troopa, and a Piranha Plant. When combined with separately available LEGO Mario, Luigi, or Peach figures, the karts trigger authentic Mario Kart sound and visual effects. An interactive Item Box provides random digital items during play.

Interactive Features

The shell-launching function operates on both vehicles, replicating the combat mechanics from the video game series. Placing compatible LEGO Super Mario figures in the driver seats activates the sound and visual systems, creating an electronic play experience that responds to different characters and actions.

The completed Tanooki Kart measures 6 cm high, 12 cm long and 9 cm wide. This racing set is designed for ages 8 and above and requires one of the separately sold Super Mario starter sets (71439, 71440, 71441, or 72043) to access the full interactive functionality.
